Dr. Claire McCann

Medical Director, Odette Cancer Center Clinical Research Program, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre

Dr. Claire McCann is the medical director of the Odette Cancer Center Clinical Research Program, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and a board certified staff physicist in the Radiation Therapy Program. Dr. McCann holds a BASc in mechanical engineering, an MHSc in clinical engineering, a PhD in Medical Biophysics and a residency in radiation oncology physics all completed at the University of Toronto. As medical director, Dr. McCann’s role is to build and direct clinical research in alignment with Sunnybrook’s vision ‘to invent the future of health care’, providing direction and oversight of cancer clinical trial operations and activity. Dr. McCann has research interests in developing and optimizing minimally invasive ablative therapeutics, as well as development of robust and adaptive radiotherapies, including novel implementations on the MR-Linac system.  Dr. McCann is actively involved in education in the University of Toronto department of radiation oncology program, and supervises students at the undergraduate and graduate level.
